What Will I Learn?
The major professional organization for language teachers, the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), has developed a series of proficiency guidelines to help teachers, students, parents, and administrators understand and describe what is essentially an internal process. While there is no 100% accurate and objective way to assess language learning, these proficiency guidelines serve to help us describe what a learner can do with the language while helping the learner understand what to expect to be able to do.
